YES!! It's my first day on the river guiding for the season and I'm stoked. I know that makes me kind of a geek but it's true. I really like to guide. I like being on the water, meeting new people, teaching people how to fish and yes; I like to get paid. Thanks Joe Bloomquist from Missouri River Lodge for the call. And thanks Crosscurrents as well as the group was initiated by them.
So anyway, it's 7am and I have about an hour and a half before we meet. This is what really seals the deal for my geek status. I had my boat all cleaned out yesterday morning; cooler stocked ready to add the lunches and the boat parked in the garage so it wouldn't get rained on last night. My truck is parked backwards to the garage and all I have to do is open the door, hook it up and drive away. I washed my truck yesterday, vaccuumed it out and stocked all my line and tippet. I re-packed my flies and all my gear in my boat bag and have all my rods already rigged and ready to go. In a month from now, all these things will be getting done 10 minutes before I meet clients with my head in a fog wishing I had time for one more cup of coffee.
Keep 'em where they live...
