P90-TREX
WOW!! A spare tire!? Thanks mom!!
Ok, my mom's not all to blame but her Christmas cookies are fantastic! And I have very little, if any, self-control when it comes to mom's sugar cookies. That, along with the countless dinners I've had at various restaurants and fast food places throughout the last couple months of traveling, has put me above 2-bills again and I'm not totally thrilled about it. And, it would be nice to go into the season in shape for once so here's the deal. It's time for what I'm gonna call P90-TREX.
I watch a lot of ESPN and other sports talk shows. My favorite is Dan Patrick. I always see P90-X being advertised on these shows so I looked into it and whoa! That crap is pretty expensive for being just a DVD of some crazy ass work-outs to do in your home along with what seems to be common sense as far as diet goes. So I've decided to kind of copy the theory behind the work-outs but tailor them to what I have at my disposal. I did purchase a kettlebell and a jump-rope and I had a inflatable, (I know you're probably thinking doll...) work-out ball but I also have a ton of other things that can put the hurt on and help burn calories.
When I was working for Alternative Youth Adventures, we carried back-packs that averaged about 60-70 pounds. We normally hiked about 5 miles a day, give or take depending upon how 'motivated' the kids were. It only took me about 3 months to go from 195 to 175, which was way too skinny but I'm thinking if I could get down to 190 I would be happy. I have busted out my pack and I'm going to put it to use; stuffed with all the ammo I have as well as sleeping bags and whatever other things I can stuff it with. I also have snow shoes and a boat; and the river is only a couple miles away! Cutter and I will be putting in plenty of time on the water in the next few months both fishing and rowing our asses/bellies off. There are also plenty of rocks and boulders and logs in the woods that we can use for whatever purposes we feel fit to get the burn on.
Diet is important in this venture so what I'm going to do is make use of all the game I've shot in the last year and 'try' to limit myself, (as much as I can,) to no red meat unless I've shot it. I have plenty of lean elk and venison in the freezer so there's no point in buying red meat or even eating it if I'm at a restaurant. My one vise, or two vises I guess, are beer and coffee with a lot of cream and sugar. I'm not going to quit drinking beer but I might start drinking my coffee black. Maybe I'll drink one glass of water for ever beer or something...
Like P90-X, I'm going all out for 90 days starting Friday the 13th. If I've figured it out right, April 12th will be my last day of training. I'm going to post weekly updates every Friday. You're gonna see some skin so just deal with it. At least I haven't gotten to the "Biggest Loser" stage so you won't see anything too offensive. (By the way, I love that show for some reason.)
Wish me luck and keep 'em where they live...
