Half Way There!!
It's day 43 on my P90-TREX kick, (almost half way to the finish line,) so I think we're do for a quick update. It has been a little discouraging because I have been working out diligently and it hadn't seemed to be paying off. I work out 6 days a week; usually for about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes doing a variety of things from kettle bell work-outs to hiking for miles through snow carrying a fifty pound pack to piling rocks to core ab work-outs to bike riding...shew, and although I feel stronger and think I look better, the weight just hadn't been coming off. Last week was a huge disappointment as I bought a scale and weighed myself. On Thursday I weighed 200 lbs and then weighed myself the next day and I was back to 204. That sucks! So I talked to Mark Raisler, who is doing the actual P90-X program. He's been shedding off pounds daily and I thought, "What the hell?" It's all about the diet I concluded after talking to him and I haven't been really focused too much on that.
So last week I decided to get serious about caloric intake. I went to Costco and loaded up on oatmeal, nuts, light snacks and low calorie soups. I also cut my portions in half for my dinners and drink skim milk instead of Lewis and Clark beer. No offense to the brewery but something had to go. I'll be honest, I'm hungry almost constantly but instead of cutting out breakfast and then eating a substantial lunch and a big dinner, I now eat a pack of oatmeal in the morning, about a 300 calorie lunch, some almonds or a snack bar in the afternoon to curb the hunger and then about a 600 calorie dinner; still sticking to the wild meat program. And instead of a s'more for a snack at night, I eat a 90 calorie chocolate bar and a cup of milk. (It's quite satisfying I must say, and there's no chance of burning your lips on the fork after roasting your marshmallow on the stove-top...)
When I started this I think I said I left Minnesota at 204. I think I was more like 208. I had been weighing myself at the YMCA and 204 only happened once. Most of the time I was around 206 or 208 and about 210 at the heaviest. Well, I weighed myself yesterday and the scale said 195. My goal was 190 so now I feel good about reaching that weight in the following weeks.
Keep 'em where you live y'all. This weekend is suppose to be cold so more skiing and less fishing I think.
