Sara Roholt from Headhunter's Fly Shop standing on top of the Great Divide ski hill last night as the fog creeps up the mountain. It was a beautiful night for skiing although the snow was a bit thick...I don't know what hell I'm talking about to be honest. I just know I fell more than usually and it didn't hurt nearly as much.
On my last run of the night, I crashed about fifty yards from the top. When I got down to the lodge I went through all my pockets to find my wallet so I could buy a round of beers--it was gone. They had already closed the hill and shut down the lift so I found a ski patrol guy and told him I thought I lost my wallet up on top of the hill. He called Pat, a lifty and maintenance guy, and he ran me up the hill on a snow mobile. We went to the spot I thought I had crashed and on the first pass, there it was half buried in a pile of snow. Holy smokes that was close.
There are a LOT of folks in Craig hoping to capitalize on some good Spring midge hatches. We were going to head out but there is still a pretty good storm system socking us in. Tomorrow should be all systems go as we head down, down stream for the first time this year. It's always kind of a crap shoot this time of year. I'll keep you posted.
Keep 'em where they live and once again, thanks Pat.
