Murphy!!
We finally had bugs yesterday in the Canyon as we kind of thought we would...but then the wind blew 35mph and the Dearborn blew out dumping a ton of mud in the Missouri. I fished with my guys for two days already and had really good fishing from Craig down so with the wind up, we figured we would take a chance in the Lower Canyon and get out of it even though we knew the Dearborn was up. We didn't know it was double however, and I'm just glad we started at Stickney Creek a few miles above the confluence.
I had the boys in my boat while the older guys, (the boys' grandpa and friend,) went with the other guide. They started right at the confluence and only put one fish in the boat. Once the Dearborn came into the Mo, it was chocolate milk. We wound up catching about ten or so before the confluence and the guys were fine taking in new sights and enjoying a relaxing boat ride. (The Dearborn is dropping fast so it should clear up by tomorrow.)
On the way back to the lodge, one of the boys was telling me how they hunt hogs in Hawaii. He said they take a loaf of bread and soak it in whiskey. Then they set it out and wait for a pig to eat it. When it gets passed out drunk, they walk up to it and slit its throat...no lie.
Keep 'em where they live...
