Tricos

July 8, 2012; the first day I've seen tricos on the Missouri this season. That's kind of crazy but it's an indication of where our water situation is. With temps in the low to mid 60's right now, what does this mean for August?

We put in at the Craig Bridge on the 8th and got a few right away on trico nymphs before finding a few good fish on a riffle. Bill put a perfect cast over this 22+ inch rainbow. Awsome fish. Well done Bill.

We kept rolling the dries for a while putting a number of fish in the boat. Almost all were on rusty spinners. The nymphing stayed stayed strong but the fish got tough on top. The bugs are getting smaller and the fish are getting pickier. Can't wait for the real hoppers to show up.

Keep 'em where they live...
