This is the ramp at Cascade...locked up. I checked out the river on my way to Great Falls yesterday and from about a mile past Pelican, this is what you'd run into. I know it's not all that uncommon but it's the first time I've seen this part of the Mo frozen over.
As for the rest of the river, the slack water is frozen all the way up to the dam, which pinches some channels down pretty tight. In fact, in some areas even the main stem is down to about two boat's width and from about Spite down, floating ice chunks pretty much span the entire river. This morning was -30 so that may have even changed.
This weekend will bring 25 degrees though...yippee!!
Keep 'em where the live and if you're going out, bring an auger.
