D'Lish

I don't always do a shore lunch like this because it's just not the standard but since we had walleye to cook...what the hell, right? I love me some walleye and yesterday's catch turned into today's lunch. You didn't think we would let that one go did you?

We fished Craig down today. The weather was really nice and the fishing was good too. Treg caught the fish of the week yesterday and damn near topped it today. We were fishing a slow moving, deep slot across from Jackson Rock when he hooked something huge. It didn't fight that much but wasn't going to be handled. It took Treg about five minutes to bring it into the shallows to get a look. It was dark and it was huge and as he eased it up, the fly popped out and the monster, mystery fish slowly disappeared into the depths.

I really couldn't tell for certain what the fish was. It didn't fight like a trout--or anything else for that matter--but it was heavy. I got a glimpse of it and would guess it was pushing 30 inches. From what Treg said, it also had a girth to it that would easily put it into the 15 pound range. The fact that it didn't dart off after the hook worked free and because it was so heavy; all I can think of is that it was a huge carp. Another day, another fish story.

Keep 'em where they live...
