It's days like these, why we love October on the Mo. The fishing was a little up and down for a couple weeks but a snow storm came in and every fish in the water was looking up. They were hungry and they weren't picky AT ALL.
Dave Glem is a good friend of mine who sold me a boat a few years ago at a really good price. He told me he would float me the loan as long as I kept take him fishing while I still owed on it so we planned to go out last Thursday for a short float after taking care of some errands in town. It was snowing and cold and we certainly didn't need to get out any earlier than we had to. We put on at noon and floated Craig to Stickney. Crazy good. We had to row out the last mile or so because there were so many fish eating.
The next few days remained exceptional as the temps came up and the air stabilized. Thirty to forty fish days nymphing the heck out of them with a few dry fly opportunities in between. Fish are fattening up for the winter. They are thick and they are nasty...love this time of year.
Keep 'em where they live...
