Angie the Fishing Goddess

Well, the suedos and the tricos are still the dominant hatches. The good thing is the big boys are still on the hoppers and although you may not catch a bunch, you will get a shot at a couple monsters like this 22 inch pig Marsha boated. The last few days I've seen tons of hoppers getting blown into the river. It's about the only time of the year I pray for wind. And as for the twitching it, don't be afraid to strip them into the boat before you cast. Browns like moving targets.

So yesterday I was introduced to "Angie the Fishing Goddess," or so she claims to be. I saw her on the river rowing an aluminum Willie's boat and my first thought was, "wow, she can row and she's pretty hot." I saw her in town and had a drink with her and her husband and the more she talked the less impressed I was.

On her website she claims to have the sensitivity of a woman who cares more about her client's experience than she does about her own ego. While we were in Izaak's the cops came in and took her outside to chat about an incident at the Wolf Creek Bridge take-out and as I got the full story, I realized how much bullshit that really is. You want to talk about ego...

Apparently, they had pulled up to the take-out earlier that day and there was a truck parked in front of the ramp loading a canoe. The truck was blocking Angie from backing her truck down the ramp to pull out so she confronted the driver of the vehicle. I guess she must have offended the guy because he told her that she should stop being such a bitch. She called him an asshole and then he used the "C" word and I guess all hell broke loose. She spat in his face and a few hours later, a deputy and a State Trooper showed up at Izaak's.

I'm not sure what she was thinking but from the sounds of it, this is a pretty common theme for the fish goddess. She obviously is a tough cookie who doesn't back down from a fight and won't give in to the pressures of a male dominated industry. Well, congratulations Angie, the 15 minutes that you would have had to wait for the gentleman to clear out at the ramp cost you an hour long discussion with the police and a $500 dollar assault ticket. Good for you. Not to mention the reputation you promote for all the other hard working women out there competing for days that are actually doing it right.

Keep 'em where they live...

  1. Interesting perception. It's too bad you're more interested in defending a local good-ole' boy than seeing how blocking the ramp is a dick move. TFG calling him out is the right thing to do, if it's done in a respectful way; no matter - the local probably doesn't know what that even means. Consideration goes a long way, even in a male dominated environment. It speaks volumes to show thoughtfulness and consideration, it's too bad he felt so threatened.

    1. Thoughtfulness? Consideration? The same thing happened to me a year later on the 4th of July. A gentleman and his wife were trying to unload their canoe on the ramp as I waited. I went over and asked them if they needed help. They accepted my help and what afterwards, I noticed everyone else step aside and actually gave up their spot in line to allow me access to the ramp so I could take care of my clients. Funny how that works.
