I worked last week with the guy from the Tap Room. (Alpine Air.) It was pretty good. He seems like a fair dude, very laid back, and understanding of the guiding situations. He's also a big golfer and hunts a ton so today he said to go ahead and take the day off to go pheasant hunting. Perfect. Every year for the past four, I've taken all of November and December off to hunt and do a little traveling, which I thought I was going to miss, but with the flexible work schedule, I'm still going to be able to do a lot of that stuff. In return, I'll work my ass off when I'm there and be there when I need to be.
As for the hand, I'm not really sure what the deal is. I will say that the past few times out on the river, I had to use the standard Carlisle oars and I think that might be part of the issue. The handles are hard plastic, smooth and the oars themselves are not counter-balanced. My previous oars were very different. The word on the street is guides that use counter-balanced oars are pussies...well, I'm fine with that. Bring back the weights. So through all this, and this comes with no professional consult, I think I developed carpal tunnel. I used to think it was kind of a made up excuse to get out of work but if that is what I have let me just say it fricken hurts and can be quite debilitating. Really. The past couple mornings have been getting better but I'm telling ya, it's serious. (Maybe I can get a medical green card for it?) What this tells me is that I'm definitely going to be investing in some bomber oars when the time comes. And yes, they will be counter-balanced.
So for those of you in the area, check out my band, "Parachute Adam." We are on facebook and will be playing at Jester's on Rodney in Helena this Saturday. It should be fun. We have been getting booked quite a bit lately and look forward to continuing through the off-season.
Keep 'em where they live..
