The Heat Is On

A weird start to the day yesterday with sprinkles and heavy cloud cover, which actually made things feel cool for once...then the sun came out and it hit the 90 degrees fore casted. I fished the same group I have for the past three days bringing two of the guys from Jersey down low and absolutely roping them until about 1 or 2 in the afternoon and then picking up just enough fish to make it interesting. My guys yesterday didn't have such good luck down there the day before so they pleaded to go up to the dam...should have listened to your guide.

It started out fine just like the dam always does; we doubled up on our first run and after one of the guys farmed out his, he hooked another immediately. We were in the middle of 30 other boats all doing the same thing most of whom were playing fair. Even the wade-fishermen seemed to back out of the runs and let the boats do row-rounds for the most part. Then things went South.

The fish stopped eating after we caught a dozen or so. We switched up rigs, fished different lines and just when you thought you figured it out--nothing. We had about a 2 hour dry spell until we said screw it and headed down-stream. Past the grass flats we started getting them again so we did finish strong but it was tough. You have to expect that I guess with all the punishment these fish have been taking for the last couple months.

There's plenty of river that's fishing well. Get out and learn it. The dam is going to keep getting tougher and tougher.

Keep 'em where they live...
