Epic Weekend
Holy Shmoley!!
I truly love living here in Montana just because every once in a while you get a weekend like this. The snow sucked on Friday so we didn't get to do the normal Friday Night Skiing and Saturday started out pretty warm as well so I took a couple buddies from Bozeman out fishing. Nathaniel and Torrey made it to Wolf Creek by about 11am and so we were on the water fishing by about noon. We put in at the Craig Bridge and Nathaniel caught his first trout before even getting to the bridge.
"That's a good indication of how your day's going to go," I said but really I was thinking, "Shit, that's pretty much the jinks card right there."
It wasn't a jinks at all. In fact, I can't tell you how many fish we caught on Saturday but it was fricken epic. The clouds came and the fish came up to midges and we hammered them for a while on top too until we figured we had move on so we could get out before dark. The wind came up for a bit and it dumped snow for a while so we stuck to nymphs for the rest of the day and by the end of it, I would be being very conservative to say we brought 50 fish to the boat.
Torrey and Nathaniel kept offering to row too so I could get in on the action but I'll be honest, once I caught a couple on top, I was good. And with the temps dropping and the guides freezing up, I'm glad I didn't have to handle all those fish.
So Sunday Jordan LaRue gave me a call asking if I'd want to head up to the hill and ski. There was like a foot of fresh powder at the top...fricken awesome day even with me sucking at this new sport I've decided to abuse myself with. They took me to a place called "The Big Open," which I know, isn't that crazy for all you folks that ski a lot but it's still a black diamond and it still kicked me ass...not nearly as bad as when Jordan pushed me off the lift though. I think I broke something. By the time I got home my ribs and my back hurt so bad I could barely walk from my truck to the front door. Nothing a little Ibuprofen can't fix though. (Feeling better today Jordan...that is, if you care.)
Keep 'em where they live...
