It's been a little while since I've updated the progress of the Fort so in my ever-pursuit of procrastination, I figured I'd write a little blog post for those interested.
I did travel home for the holidays, so there was a week I didn't work on the old place. When I got back, while waiting for the electricians to finish up the kitchen, I fixed my bay window. I don't know if you remember from the video, but there were things that resembled maxi-pads hanging from the wall above the window and the wood lining the shelf was completely rotted out. I replaced the wood with more of the blue-pine and top-coated the damaged wall to make it look more like plaster. It's hard to tell in the picture. I also painted it "apple turn-over" which is a pretty good match for Packer gold. Go Pack, Go! It's a lot darker in person.
The final touch to this space will be the trim. I found a guy in Helena that had a bunch of the pre-milled blue-pine so I had another guy mill it for trim. It will be pretty bold and totally bad-ass.
Remember the kitchen?
This was my first, and probably last, major sheet-rocking project. I borrowed a lift from a buddy and hung the ceiling and walls by myself. I'm pretty proud of that. However, last night I was checking out my final coat of paint and admiring my work when I noticed there wasn't a switch box by the sink for the overhead light and disposal. So I called the electrician and asked him about it. He said they had installed it along with the outlet box for power...yeah, I forgot to cut out holes for the boxes in the sheet-rock.
Not a big deal. Just a little embarrassing. I was able to locate the boxes and cut them out. I'm just glad I noticed it before installing the cabinets.
Today is flooring and then cabinets. Can't wait to have a kitchen soon!!
Keep 'em where they live and oh yeah, GO PACK!
