My Corona Cup Fillith Over

How's the fishing? It's been a little up and down. Alex stuck this gorgeous brown on a hopper the other day on the Missouri just above Mid-Canon. We went back to the well the next day and all the big boys decided to duck for cover. That's fishing in September.

I'm feeling SOOO grateful for the next few months with all this time off. Seriously. I'm going to hunt my ass off and I have Trump to thank for it. Had he expressed how serious of a problem this Corona thing was to the public back in January and February instead of downplaying it; calling it a hoax to his constituents and holding super-spreader events, maybe people would have taken it seriously and we'd have gotten a handle on it and I'd have to work. Instead, we have half our country taking precautions, and half the country mocking people wearing masks who are just trying to save your lives.

And thank you to all that supported Trump for this opportunity to socially distance myself out in the mountains of Montana. It's going to be amazing! Well, except for all the smoke. But hey, as long as all those oil companies and gas station attendants are able to work to pay my disaster relief, we're all good and I'm truly feeling blessed to live in the Good 'Ole USA! And as a thank you, I'm going to be sharing my experiences, chasing elk in the mountains with you all on this blog so you can read it while sitting at your desks, working to pay my lost wages. You're welcome!!

Enough to piss you off, isn't it?

I was on the Blackfoot yesterday and as I got back into cell service, I found out another 5 trips were canceled due to health concerns and Covid. I want to work. I hate the idea of taking hand-outs. I actually look at those gas station attendants and grocery store workers and anyone else that's being forced to put themselves at risk for minimum wage jobs and I feel a great deal of empathy and responsibility and even guilt. I'd love to be spending this time on the water, sharing what I love with people who really appreciate it while making an honest living but it's not happening. People are afraid. Folks don't want to put themselves or their families at risk for a trout. Some can. Some have the means to get out here while mitigating the risk but most don't and I don't blame them for pulling the plug.

Listen, people aren't canceling trips because they are being told to by the government. They are canceling out of respect for how serious this is and an obligation to their families and communities.

So here's what I'm going to do to do my part. I'm going to keep wearing my face mask in stores and hopefully, everyone else gets the message regardless of what their 'leader' is telling them. I'm also going to avoid large gatherings and I'm going to support local businesses who are struggling when I can. I'm also going to support those politicians that actually believe in science and care about those of us who are suffering. Come election day, I'll be voting for those leaders who actually care about protecting the health of our citizens instead of holding huge rallies, breaking local laws, not caring about what that's doing to those communities and dismissing the risk of spreading this virus by saying, "I'm not worried about becoming infected. I don't get close enough to all those people."

And one last thing; if you support Trump you don't support The Montana Dream. You don't. Everything from grabbing women by the pussy to mocking disabled reporters to denouncing science to rolling back environmental protections that allow me to share this wonderful place with all of you; it all goes against the core of what the dream is. And right now, the dream is in jeopardy of surviving. Please vote.

Go Biden.

Keep 'em where they live...
