Here Comes the Rain
After almost a week of near-record highs and sun, the rain is a welcomed sight. John LaRue came up again with one of his boys to do some fishing. With the Little Prickly Pear gushing, the water was definitely off color but still fishing well. The little guy had plenty of opportunities and put some nice fish in the boat.
We did get a few chases on the streamers and had some targets up on top as we moved down-stream to the Dearborn take-out. The fish were definitely being picky on the dries though, unlike the past couple weeks. I couldn't even get them to eat a midge although that's the only thing we saw on the water. We did eventually hook up before it got too dark.
It's not even May yet and the Dearborn has already blown out. It's a good 4 or 500 cfs above normal flow for this time of year. The Little Prickly Pear is still dumping mud as well. It will be interesting to see what kind of effect all of this has on the fishing out here. Again, it's all dependant on rain-fall from here on out but even if we get normal precipitation, everything seems to be at least a month early. We might have some of the best fishing ever in June instead of 20,000 cfs. Wouldn't that be nice? I just hope we have enough water in August...
Keep 'em where they live...
