Last weekend was just what we needed. It was cold and crappy and rained significantly. It also snowed up in the mountains and although we aren't seeing the affect of it yet, we should get bumps in flow on the Dearborn, Little Prickly Pear and on the other side of the Divide on the Blackfoot. I did just check the flows around the area and the LPP looks good, the Dearborn is way low at around 200 cfs, (should be about 600-700 right now,) and the Blackfoot has had the bottom drop out so at least for a couple days, it should be fishing. We will have to see what that last few days of moisture will do for the rivers. If it stays cold we'll get a gradual bump and the fishing should stay good.
The Missouri is also lower than average by a couple thousand cfs at 4800; great for the wade fishermen. With less water it means the water temps can fluctuate a little more, which can be good this time of year. Yesterday the temps started at 51 degrees and ended over 54 up by the dam. Down-stream that means it can come up even more and at 54 degrees we should start seeing PMD's and caddis for sure. The next few day are going to bring a mix of clouds, sun and rain so conditions should be favorable for dry flies.
Keep 'em where they live...
