Still Waiting for the BWO

The nights are getting cold but the days are still warming up into the sixties, which is not ideal for this time of year if you're a die-hard. Although the fishing can be good on nymphs and you will get the pods up on pseudos, what we really want is cold, rain and Blue Wing Olives. They haven't come out in droves like they should be, which means November could be crazy good. It also means it could be like the PMD hatch, which came and went before you knew it. Personally, I think when it happens it's going to be crazy. The water temps are still up but once the weather comes, and it will, fish are going to eat. In fact, the browns will be back and active and for my money, I'm counting on some crazy days on the water in the next month.

As for now, Chase and I are spending plenty of time in the field chasing birds. The pheasant activity has been ok and the ducks are a little scarce, in part because of all the water out there. They have too many options. We have been seeing a lot of mallards however, I just need to get better at bringing them in. I think I'm going to try out the Duck Commander.
