With everyone pretty well spread out on the Missouri and quite honestly, not a ton of boats on the water to begin with, Pete Cardinal and I decided to go up-stream to the Wolf Creek Bridge and float down to Craig. I was a little hesitant because it's a short float and if there are a lot of boats, it's pretty hard to make an entire day out of it. Pete's style of guiding is to park on riffles and seems and get his guys out of the boat to fish a spot for a while before moving on so he can burn a lot of time on short stretches of river. There weren't very many boats and the fish were happy so it was a pretty easy day and a good call. They're still eating the worm and micro-mays. We really didn't have to change flies the whole day.
As for dries, we did see some fish up on BWO's and March browns. The sun was bright early but a couple storms came in in the afternoon which did bring more fish up. We did feed a couple of them but the nymphing was good and my guys were happy catching fish so we didn't put much stock in it. They were a bit spooky for this time of year and you had to be perfect so a good challenge for folks that are looking for that.
Keep 'em where they live...
