No it's not fly fishing and no it's not for trout but it is fishing and it is where I grew up developing a huge love for the outdoors. My brother and I spent a few hours yesterday on a little lake about a 1/2 mile from my mother's house in Baxter, MN. We spent countless hours on this lake as kids; both trolling around in a canoe and a 2 1/2 horse outboard motor and on the ice in a rickety shack constructed out of 2x2's and cardboard. Yes, cardboard and let's just say a wood burning stove isn't the safest means of heat in a cardboard box but that's what we had and we are all still alive.
It's fun going back out on these little lakes we fished so many years ago. The equipment is definitely better, which makes the fishing a little easier. It's cool to go back to these spots we came to know back then just based on trial and error and use some of the new gear. You can really to get an idea of what's down there.
