Yesterday started out absolutely beautiful with the sun shining and wind laying low. A buddy of mine from the L&C Brewery, JJ Olson, came up for a float and of course by about noon when we put on, the wind picked up to about 25 mph. We got'er done though. By now you just expect the wind and learn how to deal with it. We had a great day doing a little re-con with nymphs in slow deep water and even tried to chuck some streamers. (We got one brown on about the 5th cast with streamers and then although we only threw the big uglies for about 20% of the float from Craig to Spite, we only touched three other fish.)
It was Cutter's first day on the boat too. He was amazing and did exactly what a dog should do in the boat. He laid down in the back and fell asleep. A couple hours into it, I heard a splash and looked back to see him swimming along next to the boat. Apparently, he was leaning over the gunnel and because his paws are disproportionately larger than the rest of his body, he lost his balance and fell out of the boat. He had no problem making it to shore, re-mounted and went back to sleep.
Keep 'em where they live...
