My new vise showed up the other day. Looking at my nymph boxes that means I need to get to work. The vise I was using must have had a nick in the jaws so I was breaking off hooks on flies at a rate of about one in every twenty or so. That's not a lot but if the hook breaks off in the mouth of some one's dream fish, it's too much. Not having a decent vise was at least giving me an excuse to put off the inevitable...I don't much like tying hundreds or even thousands of flies to get me through the season but if I can tie them for about .25 a piece versus buying them for $1.40 and I use a thousand of them, I can save about $1,100. Now I'm not going to claim to be the best tyre out there and I don't do anything revolutionary, but there is something to be said for having the color and pattern that you want and sometimes you can't buy them anyway.
Today is suppose to be in the 60's though and cloudy and the fishing has been pretty damn good. Plus March Madness has started today...what to do, what to do...Screw it, I'm going fishing!
